Teach at Splash!

Splash will be on April 11th, 2020

Teacher registration is currently open!

This year, the registration process will be different from last year, so PLEASE read and pay attention closely to all the instructions. Thank you!

UC Merced would love to have you teach at Splash this year!

As a Splash teacher, you can inspire eager high school students by sharing your passions with them. You design your own class and can teach any topic you think is interesting. You can lead a workshop, give a lecture, teach a skill, or run an activity. You can teach your workshop more than once for 50 minutes. This is also a great opportunity to boost your resume, obtain leadership skills, become a mentor for students, and take part in putting on Splash conference in the Central Valley.

Steps on How to Apply

Register for an account. You will find this on the top right hand corner of the screen or click here. Make sure you sign up as a VOLUNTEER TEACHER.

Once you complete your profile, you will find a checklist that you will have to complete. One of these is the biography. This is a chance for you to let your potential students know a little bit about yourself.....isn't that awesome! (not required but recommended) The most important part is to register your course. It is extremely important that you fill out EVERY section of the application.
P.S. If you have any disabilities, please write them down in the message to directors section.

Check your email constantly for information/updates. If you are not contacted, return to your profile and check if your workshop has been approved.
P.S. Check every folder in your email.....YES! Even your junk/spam folder.

You will also be required to submit a lesson plan so that we can review and make sure everything is appropriate. More information will be provided in your email.

Need Ideas?

For ideas on what classes have been taught in the past, have a look at our Splash 2k17 Workshop Flyers. Remember to be creative! You can teach anything (as long as it is appropriate). If you love video games, you can have a workshop about game theory or just plain video games. If you are passionate about under water basket weaving, go ahead and teach about that! The success of a workshop reflects on the passion of the teacher.

What is the time commitment?

Small. Teaching at Splash has a big impact but takes very little time. Besides the actual time it takes to teach your class (50 minutes), you will be asked to attend a training with workshop administrators to go over teaching strategies, any questions you have, and receive feedback on your class idea. We will provide you with a t-shirt as a token of our appreciation.
